Sawpits Wagon – A Secluded Couples’ Retreat in the Heart of Dorset

Sleeps 2

Discover Sawpits Wagon, a beautifully private and peaceful hideaway —perfect for couples seeking a truly secluded retreat in the Dorset countryside. Sleeping two, this romantic glamping escape is thoughtfully designed to make the most of the stunning, wide-reaching views that surround it.

The heart of the site is the lovingly restored Woodman’s Wagon, fitted with a cosy double bed, comfortable seating, and a charming dining area beside the compact kitchen. Step out onto the west-facing elevated platform, where sunsets pool across farmland and ancient woodland, creating memories to last a lifetime. It’s a place where time slows, and nature takes centre stage.

A Romantic Hot Tub Escape

Nothing says couples’ retreat quite like your own private wood-fired hot tub. Slip into the warm water, listening to birdsong and the gentle quiet of the countryside. It’s simple, magical, and wonderfully relaxing—an unforgettable highlight of your stay.

Other facilities include a compost loo with an incredible view, aka the ‘loo with a view’, a gas heated shower, a campfire with BBQ and a wooden picnic table for long al fresco meals beneath the trees.

Dog-Friendly, With Family Options

While Sawpits Wagon is designed primarily as a romantic escape for couples, we do welcome one or two well-behaved dogs to join you. Families are also welcome—up to two children may camp in their own tent for £20 per child per night.

Easy Travel & Local Essentials

Reaching us is simple. Sherborne Station offers excellent train links, and the Stock Gaylard Estate is just a 10-minute taxi ride away, with a taxi office conveniently located at the station.

For fresh local produce and everyday essentials, we recommend Dike & Son, a much-loved family-owned supermarket in nearby Stalbridge.

A Scenic Arrival Through Historic Countryside

Your secluded adventure begins the moment you arrive. The track winds past our historic Deer Park and ancient oak trees before crossing a car-friendly field to your private corner of the estate—a hidden haven made for couples to reconnect, unwind, and breathe in the peace of rural Dorset.
